I Have A Confession

Yes, right here on the world-wide-web I'm going to make a major confession. I, being of sound mind and body, am totally and hopelessly in love with a vampire. Ok, that's it, I've said it.

Well, love may not be exactly what it is BUT I am totally engrossed in the Stephanie Meyer's book series, "Twilight". I love to read but in the past few years, I've only had time for a book here and there, mostly dealing with management practices, self-improvement, etc. But a few weeks ago, I was on Facebook looking at Flair and noticed tons of buttons that said things like, "Edward's my boyfriend" and "Team Jacob", etc. After doing some Googling (shouldn't that be a word by now?), I found out that the Flair was referring to the book "Twilight". I thought that would settle my curiousity but when we visited Kayti's apartment, I noticed three books on her shelf..."Twilight", "New Moon" and "Eclipse". I said, "Are those the books that everyone has been talking about?" Her eyes lit up and she said, "YES! Edward is my boyfriend! Book 4 comes out in a couple weeks and I've pre-purchased it!"

Ok, now my curiousity was insatiable. I bought "Twilight" thinking that if I didn't like the first one, I wouldn't have wasted much money. Not like the book? How WRONG could I have been! I flew through it in 2 days, rushed back for the sequel and flew through it in 2 days as well. I bought the third book Sunday but unfortunately, I bought the Spanish version....and I no habla Espanol! I am hanging in suspense waiting to find out what is going on with the main characters (one of whom is a vampire, by the way)! I have GOT to get that book exchanged today!

I say all of that to say this: If you like fiction, or even if you don't, I recommend Twilight. Check it out from the local library if you don't want to spend the money but I truly think you'll become as hooked as I am. As an FYI, the Twilight movie is coming out in December but don't wait for it. I'm sure as in most cases, you'll be glad you read the book before seeing the movie. I should go to the store now...I need my Edward fix!

Surgery Strikes the Boyfriends!

Last Friday, Alyssa's bf Taylor had to have his wisdom teeth removed (ouch!) I can totally empathize with him as this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Even delivering 3 babies by natural childbirth did not compare to the pain I felt from the dry sockets after wisdom teeth removal. I remember being on sooo much heavy medication and still popping Advil as though they were Skittles. Nothing stopped the pain! Thankfully, I don't think Taylor has gotten dry sockets so he should be back to normal soon.

Saturday, Spencer's brother, Garrett, was rushed to Good Shepherd doubled over in pain. Come to find out, he had to have an emergency appendectomy. And unbelievably, before the day was over, Spencer was doubled over in pain as well! Since he was already at the hospital, he went to the ER and they determined that he, too, needed an emergency appendectomy! So Sunday, Victoria's bf had surgery. He and his brother are at home healing now. What a weird coincidence!

Quick recovery wishes to all these guys! *eyes Devin to make sure he's not doubled over*

I Need A Second Job

Have you ever been broke the day after payday? That has got to be one of the worst feelings in the world. One minute there's this elated feeling of, "Yay! All the bills are paid!" and the next minute it's, "Oh man. I am so broke." I think most normal people know what I'm talking about. Now those of you who are independently wealthy, I guess you can ignore this post. It will not have meaning for you. And gee, I really hate that. But back to my normal readers...

Yes, I work for the great State of Texas. That means I get paid once a month. So one day a month, I have funds and the other 29-30, I can only wish I did. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and am very grateful to have a good paying job. I only wish I had a money tree that bore "fruit" every other month or so.

Since the money tree idea is probably not going to come about, here's what I think I'll do to overcome this dreadful feeling that occurs when my pockets are empty and I don't have money to count. I'll count my blessings.

Thank you God for a wonderful family; my mother, my brother & sisters, my nieces and nephews and my precious great-nieces and great-nephews. Thank you God for blessing me with three beautiful children who each have unique gifts and talents to use for you. Thank you for sending me the perfect man for me (you may have overdone it on the "conservative with money" part but that's ok). He has a good job and gets up every day to go to it. And thank you for giving me health and the "smarts" that help me to do my job to the best of my ability.

Ok, I  can't leave this group out. Thank you God for my friends. I bet you thought I was going to say cats, didn't you? All joking aside, I love my friends, both old and new, and can't imagine life without them.

See, I feel better all ready. I'm not broke at all.

Shopped Till We Dropped

Yesterday was spent shopping for Alyssa' dorm supplies. We had a good time! It's hard to believe she's about to move out of the house. It seems like yesterday when she was just a little girl.

We bought out Target!

Every girl needs a mirror!
